Stainless Steel 316 | AISI 316 | 1.4401
Stainless Steel 316, also known as AISI 316, has very good creep strength at high temperatures.
Corrosion and 316
Stainless Steel 316 | AISI 316 | 1.4401
Stainless Steel 316 has superior corrosion resistance compared to most other Cr-Ni steel grades, in numerous chloride-containing corrosive environments. Stainless Steel 316, also known as AISI 316, has very good creep strength at high temperatures. In addition, this Stainless Steel grade is highly resistant to corrosion by sulphuric acid. Stainless Steel 316 is used in equipment for the chemical and petrochemical industry, pulp and paper industry, pharmaceutical and biotechnological industry, and food and beverage industry.
The difference
Stainless Steel 316 and 304
Both Stainless Steel grades are by far the most commonly used of all Stainless Steel grades. The 304 alloy is more susceptible to chlorides and acids than the 316 alloy. As a result, AISI 316 is less prone to corrosion. Materials with grade number 316 are generally more expensive than 304. Do you need stainless steel that comes into contact with chlorides and acids? Then definitely choose Stainless Steel 316. If in doubt, always contact us.
