Exceptional corrosion resistance
Alloy 825 | W 2.4858 | UNS N08825
Alloy 825 is an austenitic nickel-iron-chromium alloy with additions of molybdenum, copper, and titanium. It has been developed to provide exceptional corrosion resistance in both oxidising and reducing environments. The alloy is resistant to chloride stress corrosion cracking and pitting.
The addition of titanium stabilises alloy 825 against sensitisation in the welded condition, making the alloy resistant to intergranular attack after exposure to temperatures in a range that would sensitise unstabilised stainless steels. The manufacturing of Alloy 825 is typical of nickel-based alloys, where the material is easily formable and weldable using a variety of techniques.
