Characteristics

Alloy 254 SMO

  • Excellent resistance to pitting corrosion and crevice corrosion, PRE = ≥42.5
  • High resistance to general corrosion and stress corrosion
  • Higher strength than conventional austenitic Stainless Steel grades
  • Good weldability

Applications of 254SMO

  • Equipment for handling seawater, such as seawater cooling, cooling water pipelines, ballast water systems, fire fighting systems, etc.
  • Hydraulic and instrumentation hoses
  • Equipment in pulp bleaching factories
  • Components in gas cleaning systems
  • Tanks and pipelines for chemicals with a high halide content
